LEVELS OF SWIMMING

Under the USA Swimming umbrella there are different levels of involvement as well as entry points to the sport. Many children get their competitive start through a neighborhood swim team, local recreational team, country club, school team or a USA Swimming club team. At this level, swimmers learn and refine swimming skills and begin to compete against their peers. As swimmers mature, the goals become a little bigger and they move into higher levels of swimming. Our levels are broken down as follows:

MINI-WAVERUNNERS

Ages 4 - 8 ( must be comfortable in the water )



This program is for beginner swim team level swimmers. Improve your stroke and increase your endurance. Must be able to swim one length of the pool - any stroke to join team. Emphasis is on learning the four competitive strokes; Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke, and Butterfly.


Prerequisite: Ability to swim 25 yards non stop in all four strokes required to advance to White Team.

WHITE TEAM

Ages 6 - 18

The emphasis is on fine tuning all four strokes, turns and starts, and implementing more structured workout sets. H
ave a basic understanding of how to use the pace clock and be comfortable in simple structured sets.
 

Prerequisite: Stroke techniques are assessed for permission to advance. 

BLUE TEAM

Ages 6 - 18

This group is designed for those swimmers who thrive on competition and are focused on reaching their highest potential as a swimmer. Although there is time spent on technique, the main focus of the group is on an intensive training regiment.


Prerequisite: Must be willing to attend swim meets. Improved pace clock skills, starts, turns, and racing skills with emphasis on pace clock drills for endurance.
